Billy Lee Ackerley wrote Wontcha Dance With Me on or before 1983. He recorded it at the recording studio his renters built in his house on 445 E. Brundage, in Sheridan Wyoming. He put it on his The Beginning album. Musicians from Florida to California were hired to perform on it. The recording quality was not so good, but the musicians were excellent. Billy and the lead guitar player, Pat DeLeon, have been friends ever since. Pat lives in Miami. A year or so after the album recording, Pat Deleon came to Sheridan to play in Billy's band: The Ackerley Bunch. People are still talking about that great band. It was a big help in Billy's career.
If you google Billy Lee Ackerley, you also find Pat DeLeon. If you google Pat DeLeon, you also find Billy Lee Ackerley. They have been kicking around the idea of recording together again. Maybe in Miami next time.
Wontcha Dance With Me is a rockabilly style song, and it is a fun one. Billy wrote, recorded, copyrighted, published, and produced the song himself..
