Billy Lee Ackerley, Little Petey

Little Petey was written by Billy Lee Ackerley at his home, on 10/26/87. He wrote it in 45 minutes, which is the amount of time it took most of his songs. It is a western song about a young man who wanted to be a gunfighter, but got shot because he was slower on the draw.
It was recorded, copyrighted, published, and produced by Billy Lee Ackerley. And, was put on his Wyoming's Centennial Album, which celebrated Wyoming becoming a state in 1890. Of  course the album was recorded in Wyoming in 1990. He rode his Arabian horse in the Sheridan, WY rodeo parade to promote the album. He had the album cover on his saddle. And, his horse was black, as was his custom stage uniform he wore-which he had designed and had made by Carlene Hammontree.
Now and then someone still mentions seeing that ride.
