Billy Lee Ackerley wrote We Don't Burn Our Flag In Wyoming between 1986 and 1990. He put it on his Wyoming's Centennial album, in 1990, when Wyoming was 100 years old. He wanted to make an album of all Wyoming songs, to help celebrate the occasion, as Billy is proud of his Wyoming heritage. His mother's family (Sayer, Jennings, and Leach) came to NE Wyoming in 1884 before Wyoming became a state. They came from Kansas in wagons pulled by oxen.
Billy's father's family came to Sheridan Wy in 1893, on one of the first passenger trains. They came from Pennsyvania. The family consisted of George Amon Ackerley, his wife, and two boys. Sheridan was started in 1888, and still had dirt streets.
Billy's song: We Don't Burn Our Flag In Wyoming shows how patriotic he is, and how proud he is to be American. It was written, recorded, produced, published, and copyrighted by Billy Lee Ackerley.
